About Us

Since 1960, the Garland County Historical Society has collected, preserved, and educated the public about the history of Hot Springs/Garland County. With more than 40,000 photographs and other items in our searchable database, numerous newspapers, manuscripts, maps, books, and other materials, we have one of Arkansas’ most outstanding local history collections. We publish a yearly journal (The Record) as well as books that illuminate the fascinating past of Hot Springs and Garland County. We give programs to school, civic, and other groups and hold special events to promote interest in local history.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we add to our collections through the generosity of those who donate historical items to us. We encourage students, researchers, and the general public to visit us and explore local history in our archives. We thank our members and our community for the support that makes our work possible.
