Carved in Stone, Cast in Metal, Final Tributes, Sad Farewells is a collection of selected epitaphs gathered from tombstones in the cemeteries in Hot Springs. The 77-page softcover gives an alphabetical list of interesting epitaphs and many photographs of epitaphs as they are seen on the grave markers. The book also contains photographs of the compilers and researchers at work, as well as markers of interest, scenes around the cemetery grounds, and the beautiful trees which grace cemeteries in Hot Springs. Gail Ashbrook and Elizabeth C. Davis, with the help of Lana Donoho and Joe Thomas, compiled this book because so many individuals have expressed an interest in epitaphs. It is not a history or guide book, but rather a collection of thoughts and poems found on local cemetery monuments interspersed with intriguing photographs.
